From GMA News (Apr 8): Iqbal attends House hearing on Mamasapano clash

Moro Islamic Liberation Front chief negotiator Mohagher Iqbal showed up at the House of Representatives’ hearing on Wednesday on the Mamasapano clash after skipping it the previous day for another commitment.
 
Aside from Iqbal, other new faces seen at Wednesday’s hearing are Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretaries Evan Garcia and Rafael Seguis.

Absent at the hearing on Wednesday are Interior Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas II, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, and government chief negotiator Miriam Coronel Ferrer. The three officials previously attended the second House hearing on the Mamasapano tragedy on Tuesday.

Justice Secretary Leila De Lima was present at the Wednesday hearing.

Iqbal’s absence on Tuesday irked a number of lawmakers, with Zamboanga Rep. Celso Lobregat remarking that the negotiator’s attitude showed “a very antagonistic stand on the House of Representatives.”
 
The MILF executive, together with Coronel Ferrer, attended a forum sponsored by the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines that day but snubbed the House hearing. 
 
Ferrer, meanwhile, caught up at the House after the event.
 
House public order and safety chairman Negros Occidental Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer, one of the lawmakers presiding over the hearing, has expressed interest in quizzing Iqbal regarding the aliases he has been using for the peace negotiations.
 
Coronel Ferrer admitted during the second hearing that Iqbal was using an alias but she declined from divulging his real name.
 
Davao City Rep. Karlo Alexei Nograles noted that the use of pseudonyms in any public transaction or document is prohibited under Article 178 of the Revised Penal Code and the Anti-Alias Law under Commonwealth Act 142 as amended by Republic Act 6085.
 
At least 21 lawmakers have expressed their intent to interpellate the resource persons invited to the hearing.
