A trooper from the Army's 55th Infantry Battalion was wounded during a 40-minute encounter with New People's Army (NPA) fighters at Barangay Hoyohoy, Tangub City, Misamis Occidental Monday afternoon.

The clash took place at 1:15 p.m., said Joint Task Force ZAMPELAN spokesperson Capt. Franco Suelto.

He added that government troopers were conducting security patrols when they spotted the rebels, triggering the encounter, which resulted in the wounding of one soldier and an undetermined number among the NPAs.
