CALAMBA CITY – Laguna police arrested the third most wanted criminal in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) region. Supt. Fernando Ortega said they arrested Allan Alarzar, 39, in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna. around 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Alarzar, allegedly a member of the New People’s Army (NPA), faces three counts of murder in his home province, Oriental Mindoro. Ortega, the police chief of Calamba City, Laguna, is also a resident of Barangay Sto. Domingo, where Alarzar stayed for years as tricycle driver.

Ortega said he learned about the suspect’s real identity through the village officials.

Based on police intelligence records, the suspect was first arrested by government forces during an encounter with communist rebels in Oriental Mindoro in October 2001.

He, however, managed to escape and hide. Ortega said Alarzar was also a suspect in the October 2011 murder of Paquito Umbao, a court employee from Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro.
