From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 1): Army intensifies security operations

The Philippine Army has intensified its security operations after its men clashed with three New People's Army rebels at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sitio Guinimbalan, Barangay Togbon, Oas, Albay.

Lt. Col. Perfecto Penaredondo, commanding officer of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, reported to the headquarters of the 9th Infantry Division here that while his men were doing security operation at the area they clashed with three rebels for three minutes, after which the dissidents withdrew.

Believing that the rebels would be out to disturb peace and order, Penaredondo ordered his men to intensify security patrol missions to ensure the safety of travelers who take advantage of the Holy Week for a vacation in their favorite tourists destinations in the Bicol Region.
