The Philippine Army will be leading the way for biking enthusiasts for a unity ride in Panay Island.

Division Adjutant Lt. Col. Marlon Ocfemia of the 3rd Infantry Division-Philippine Army disclosed that they will hold a cycling tour dubbed as Spearhead Troopers Bike Tour 2015 in Panay Island.

Ocfemia said that the activity is anchored on the theme “Unity Ride for Peace and Progress’ which aims to promote unity for peace and development in the area, particularly in Capiz and the entire Panay Island.

He added that the unity ride likewise aims to foster good health and camaraderie among the participants as well as promote closer ties, coordination and fellowship among law enforcement agencies, local government units, stakeholders and the entire citizenry who are guardians of peace.

For Capiz, the event will be held on March 8 which will kick off at 5 o’clock in the morning from Baybay, Roxas city, taking the route of Roxas City to Panay, Panitan and Ivisan and back to Roxas City.

Participating in the 52-kilometer unity ride are members of the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies, local government units, various bikers clubs and cycling enthusiasts.

Aside from Capiz, the same event will be held in Iloilo on March 14 which will kick off in front of SM Mandurriao in Iloilo City and will take the route of Iloilo, San Miguel, Cabatuan, Sta. Barbara and Pavia.

“We are inviting Capiceños to join us in this event which is geared towards peace and unity in the countryside,” Ocfemia said.
