Troops clash with NPA in New Bataan

From the Sun Star-Davao (Mar 24): Troops clash with NPA in New Bataan

GOVERNMENT troops clashed Tuesday with communist rebels in a town in Compostela Valley.

No soldier was wounded in the fighting in Barangay Andap, New Bataan, Lt. Vergel Lacambra, spokesperson of the Army's 10th Infantry Division, reported.

The New People’s Army (NPA) fighters left behind an improvised landmine, rifle magazines, two-way radios and personal belongings, Lacambra said.

She identified the rebels as belonging to the NPA's Sentro de Grabidad (SDG) Front 25, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC).

Several of the rebels, who retreated after about 30 minutes, were believed to have been wounded, Lacambra said.
