Muslim
students and youth groups from South Cotabato
initiated a Tabang Bakwit Program to gather relief goods for the displaced
constituents of Maguindanao brought by the all-out offensive of the government
forces against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).
The
initiative was a joint collaboration of the Muslim Students Organization-Notre
Dame of Marbel University (NDMU), Mindanao Center for Da'wah and Islamic
Studies, Agency for Youth affairs-Tupi, College of Arts and Sciences and
College of Health Sciences of NDMU and Philippine Society of Medical Technology
Students.
The
volunteers were able to collect and produced 230 packs of relief goods. Each
pack has clothes, rice, noodles, toiletries and other food items.
The relief
goods will be sent this Thursday to Office of the Bangsamoro People at the ORG
Compound in Cotabato
City which will
facilitate the distribution to target community.
Organizers
thanked all benefactors who shared their resources for the said program.
The
Humanitarian Emergency Aid Response Team (HEART) of the Autonomous Region in
Muslim Mindanao reported there were around 123,537 IDPs as of Monday March 16
due to the AFP-BIFF clash.
