From Tempo (Mar 9): 2 soldiers hurt in Agusan clash
BAYUGAN CITY, Agusan del Sur – Two Army troopers were wounded while scores of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were reportedly either killed or wounded in a gunbattle at upper Dahelison area of Barangay New Salem, in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur province.
Initial police report stated that troops of 401st Infantry (Stingers) Brigade were conducting security operations when they encountered the armed insurgents.
“They were checking their (rebels) presence when patrolling soldiers engaged them,” said Supt. Martin M. Gamba, spokesman of Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13).
Identities of the wounded soldiers were temporarily withheld pending notification to their next of kin.
