CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – A suspected member of the New People’s Army (NPA) facing rebellion charges was captured by military and police operatives in Barangay Comillas North, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur, it was reported yesterday.

Senior Supt. Nestor Felix, Ilocos Sur police director, confirmed the arrest of suspected NPA amazon identified as Mararose Long-ag, 26, a resident of Barangay Comillas North, Cervantes, Ilocs Sur. She was enrolled as 4th year criminology student at the Mountain Province Polytechnic State College in Tadian, Mountain Province.

He said Long-ag was nabbed on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Modesto Quismorio of Regional Trial Court Branch 25, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, on November 27, 2012 for the crime of rebellion with no bail.

The suspect allegedly participated in the ambush of Philippine Army troops on June 12, 2004 at Bessang Pass, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur, that resulted in the death of at least nine soldiers and wounding of several others.

Upon her arrest, the suspect was immediately presented to Ilocos region police director, Chief Superintendent Roman A. Felix, and is now under the custody of La Union Police Office.
