Golan Heights peacekeepers to be given heroes' welcome

From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 21): Golan Heights peacekeepers to be given heroes' welcome

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala on Sunday announced that a heroes' welcome will be given to the 328 officers and enlisted personnel of the 7th Philippine Contingent to Golan Heights.

He added that President Benigno S. Aquino III will lead the ceremonies for the Filipino personnel who served a tour of duty at the Golan Heights.

"The President will lead the ceremony," Zagala said.

He refused to give other details on the matter as it is now the purview of Office of the President.

Zagala said the welcoming ceremony is tentatively scheduled on Sept. 26.

Two hundred forty-four Filipino peacekeepers, who served a tour of duty at the Golan Heights, arrived Friday while another 84 are scheduled to arrive 11 p.m. this Sunday.
