Operatives
of the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) have successfully
recovered seven kilograms of IED (improvised explosive device) materials along
with other explosive items during operations in Purok 4A, Sitio Panamin Gamay,
Barangay Elizalde, Maco, Compostela
Valley Province
late Friday night.
The
CIDG operation stemmed from a report provided by Army Intelligence which
indicated that an explosive cache is being maintained in the area.
Acting
on this information, CIDG Region 11 operatives led by Senior Inspector Rodel M.
Calo, and personnel of Compostela Valley Police Provincial Office immediately
applied for two search warrants from the sala of 1st MCTC Compostela-New Bataan
ComVal Province Judge Ferdinand R Villanueva.
Seized
inside the suspect's house were:
*One
IED weighing more or less one kilogram
*A
caliber .45 magazine without ammunition
*One
blasting cap with detonating cord
*Assorted
IED components
*One
bundle of electrical wire
*One
M-14 magazine, also without ammunition
*Sixteen
M-14 rounds
*Assorted
subversive documents/pamphlets/booklets and newspapers marked "pasa
bilis" and "ang bayan" believed to be from the New People's Army
*One
megaphone
*One
violet colored bag containing personal belongings, laptop wallet with ID named
Rex Franco, allegedly a security guard of Mongoose Security Agency detailed
with Apex mining who was reportedly abducted by the rebels sometime in July
2014.
During
the withdrawal of the CIDG operatives, a protruding wire from an unoccupied
house, reportedly owned by one Jona Aricos, was chanced upon which led to the
recovery of the following items:
*An
IED weighing 6.4 kilograms
*18
rounds of .50 caliber machine gun rounds
*A
holster for a .45 caliber pistol
*One
soldering iron
*And
assorted medical supplies.
