NDF hits Paduano as solon

From the Visayan Daily Star (Jul 1): NDF hits Paduano as solon

The National Democratic Front- Negros slammed the installation of Stephen Paduano, who is also known as Carapali Lualhati, as a representative of what it claims is the bogus Abang Lingkod partylist- group to the House of Representatives.

NDF spokesperson Frank Fernandez, in a statement sent to the Visayan DAILY STAR, expressed dismay that the Commission on Election and the Supreme Court utterly neglected valid reasons and evidence of the petitioners proving that Abang Lingkod is a bogus party-list, and its not representing any marginalized sector.

Paduano, who used to be the national commander of the RPA-ABB, yesterday brushed aside the accusations of the NDF-Negros, and maintained that Abang-Lingkod represents farmers and fisherfolk, which obtained 260,215 votes during the May 2012 elections.

Fernandez also linked Paduano to the series of killings of peasant leaders in Negros, including Edwin Bargamento, Pedro Trabajador, among others, while other RPA-ABB leaders were also linked to the murder of Kabankalan Regional Trial Court Judge Henry Arles in Ilog, and that of Romeo Capalla in Iloilo.

He added that they are also part of the much-dreaded “death squad” allegedly of the Philippine Army believed responsible for the abduction of Perseus Geagoni, Felicidad Katalbas, Roberto Marapo and Amir Borris, apparently referring to the RPA-ABB.

These are just a few of the cases filed before the People’s Revolutionary Court against the RPA and Paduano, Fernandez also said.

In their quest for justice, the victims and family of the victims, submitted these cases for investigation before Congress. However, as if to add insult to injury, Paduano was installed as a representative of Abang Lingkod, the NDF-Negros spokesman said.

The people and the revolutionary movement in Negros, as well as in other regions will never forget the outrageous crimes of Stephen Paduano against the CPP-NPA, Fernandez added.

  1. Paduano and the RPA-ABB broke away from the CPP/NPA back in the mid-to-late 1990s. Since then, the two groups have targeted each others leaders for assassination with the NPA getting the best of the exchange. There is absolutely no love lost between these groups.
