Army builds houses at Negros 1st ranch

From the Visayan Daily Star (May 19): Army builds houses at Negros 1st ranch

The construction of houses for 11 families from Hacienda Arloc to the relocated site of the Negros First Ranch in Brgy. Santa Rosa, Murcia, Negros Occidental is now going on as a Bayanihan team effort.

Col. Jon Aying, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said the building of houses is a joint effort of the provincial government of Negros Occidental, Philippine Army and the Kasanag Inc., a non-government organization.

Not only will the 11 affected families have new houses, they will also receive livelihood assistance from the provincial government, through its Negros First-Army Wellness Extension Farm, in the peripheral area of the ranch, that covers four to six hectares, Aying said.

He said the expansion of the Negros First-Army Wellness Farm at the 303rd Infantry Brigade in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, has become a necessity, because of the increasing demand of the local market for organic vegetable and poultry products.

Aying added that the provincial government, through its Technological Livelihood Development Center, will assist the 11 families in the marketing of their products.
