ambush (Brigade commander in Cagayan relieved on the spot due to NPA ambush)
Nalalagay ngayon sa balad ng alanganin ang isang Philippine Army brigade
commander matapos itong sibakin sa kanyang pwesto makaraang mamatayan ng 7
sundalo at 8 sugatan sa isang ambush ng New People’s Army. Kinilala ni
Col. Loreto Magundayao, Jr., hepe ng Civil Military Operations Battalion ng 5th
Infantry Division, ang sinibak na opisyal na si Col. Eduardo Collado, ang pinuno
ng 502nd Infantry Brigade. Sinabi nitong may isinasagawang imbestigasyon
sa naturang ambush upang mabatid kung ano ang naging lapses ng militar. “In
military parlance, he (Collado) has been given (rest and recreation) pending the
result of the investigation in connection with the encounter,” ani Magundayao.

(The situation of a Philippine Army brigade commander is uncertain after 7 soldiers were killed and 8 wounded in an ambush by the New People's Army. Col.
