From the Visayan Daily Star (Nov 6): NPAs admit slay of former leader

 The Rachelle Mae Palang Command of the New People’s Army has claimed responsibility for the killing of its former leader in Negros Oriental they accused of being involved with the Philippine Army in military operations in Santa Catalina, Siaton and Pamplona towns. The victim, identified as Elmo Taburada, former vice-commander of the Sentro de Grabidad platoon of the Komiteng Rehiyonal-Sentral Bisayas, succumbed to three gunshot wounds. He was shot by three suspected NPA assassins on Nov. 1 in Sitio Avocado, Brgy. Talalac, Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental. Estrella Banag-banag, spokesperson of the NPA South East Negros, has claimed in a statement that Taburada was a traitor to the revolutionary movement, as he also voluntarily surrendered two high-powered firearms to the military....
