From the Sun Star-Davao (Nov26): No retirement in struggle: MILF leader
Fresh from a successful 33rd round of formal talks with the Philippine government in Malaysia, the head of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) peace negotiating panel Mohagher Iqbal said there is no retirement in struggle. "For as long as you can still think normally, you can still be part of the struggle. As long as your mind is working, you are still bound to serve your people," said the 64-year-old MILF leader who has been in the Bangsamoro struggle since 1972 when he was still 22 years old. "I may be physically tired but emotionally and intellectually, I am still active. When you are serving your people in the right way, you don't feel tired. The right time to retire is when peace is finally attained," Datu Iqbal told Sun.Star Davao in an exclusive interview here on November 22.
Accompanied by MILF peace negotiating panel member Professor Abhoud Sayeed Linggo, Ustaj Sohri Ali, Bangsamoro Development Agency member Jamel Macaraya, and H. Yusop Sacar of the Muslim Traders Association of the Philippines, Iqbal flew in to this emirate on November 21 for a meeting with Emirati businessmen, after the 33rd formal exploratory talks with the Government of the Philippines (GPH) ended in Kuala Lumpur on November 17.....
