From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 12, 2023): 63 Reds surrender in Mimaropa since January (By Christopher Lloyd Caliwan )

MANILA – A total of 63 members of the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army (CPP-NPA) have surrendered to different police units in Mimaropa from January to April 11 this year, according to Brig. Gen. Joel Doria, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 4B, on Wednesday.

Mimaropa is comprised of the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.

In a statement, Doria said the latest surrenderer was “Ka Amor”, 33, from Sitio Palihon, Barangay Waygan in Mansalay town, Oriental Mindoro and a regular member of GMT under the Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA) 4D of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC). He voluntarily surrendered to the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office (PPO) in Barangay Cacawan, Pinamalayan town on Tuesday afternoon.

“The surrender of “Ka Amor” was through the relentless efforts of the intelligence unit of Oriental Mindoro PPO, in collaboration with the 10th Special Action Battalion under the PNP Special Action Force; PRO Mimaropa Regional Intelligence Division; Alpha Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Coy under 2CMOBn, 76th Infantry Battalion, 23rd Military Intelligence Company, and 203rd Infantry Brigade, all under the Philippine Army; and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency,” Doria said in a statement.

“Ka Amor” is now under the custody of the PNP for debriefing prior to their possible enrollment in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

“I renew my call to the remaining members of the communist terrorist group to surrender and return to the folds of the law, and enjoy the benefits given by the government through the Enhanced Local Integration Program (E-CLIP),” Doria said.

The Mimaropa top cop commended the efforts of the PNP and all government agencies concerned in the region and reiterated the significant role of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed-conflict (NTF-ELCAC) in the government’s successful counter-insurgency campaign.

“I commend the efforts of our PNP personnel, the AFP and all concerned government agencies in this success. This is a solid proof that the government’s whole-of-nation approach under the NTF-ELCAC is gaining more momentum in its goal to putting an end to the local communist terrorism in the region,” said Doria.
