The New People’s Army Leonardo Panaligan Command yesterday claimed responsibility for the killing of another civilian, this time a 63-year-old farmer, on Easter Sunday (April 9), at rebel infested Brgy. Macagahay in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

In a statement, rebel spokesman Ka JB Regalado accused the victim, Danilo Bedaja, 63, of allegedly engaging in land grabbing activities and being involved in cattle rustling activities in the barangay.

Investigations of the Moises Padilla Police Stations showed that Bedaja, alias Etek, was on his way to his farm on Sunday when his son heard gunshots about 300 meters from their residence.

When the Bedaja’s son investigated the incident, he found his father lying on the ground, who had succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries.

Regalado said that Bedaja had been repeatedly warned of his activities in 2017, and was told to leave the place. Several years after, he returned to their place and allegedly continued his acts, the rebel group spokesman said.

Earlier, the rebel group also claimed responsibility for the killing of Raffy Estorco, who they alleged as a military informant, also in Brgy. Macagahay, Moises Padilla.
