ILIGAN CITY – A New People’s Army rebel was killed in an encounter with the Army 103rd Infantry (Haribon) Brigade in Barangay Tikalaan, Talakag, Bukidnon on Sunday, March 19.Troops were patrolling the area when they chanced upon 30 communist guerrillas, triggering a 45-minute skirmish.
An NPA rebel was killed and two high-powered firearms, ammunition, commercial radios, and personal belongings were recovered in the clash site.
Brig. Gen. Yegor Rey P Barroquillo Jr., 103rd IB commander, lauded troops for diligently pursuing the NPA.
“I appeal to our brothers being misled by the CTG to lay down their arms and embrace peace as we will aggressively continue our mission to end terrorism here in our area of operations," added Barroquillo.
State forces clashed with the NPA a week after a gunfight on Monday, March 13, in Barangay Rogero, Bubong, Lanao del Sur in which was one soldier was killed and another was wounded.
