𝗡𝗣𝗔 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿

CARMEN, SdS – 17 April 2022, a certain Fortunato Suazo Undayon @JR/ALAS, 35 years old, married and a resident of Brgy Dimasalang, San Luis, Agusan del Sur, voluntarily surrendered to Lt. Col. Michael Rey S Reuyan, Commanding Officer of 36th Infantry ''VALOR" Battalion, stationed at Brgy Puyat, Carmen, Surigao del Sur.

The subject bringing along with him one (1) defaced Cal. 7.62mm (AK 47 Norinco) rifle w/ two (2) magazines; one (1) defaced Cal. 30 M1 Carbine w/ one (1) magazine; thirty (30) rds live ammunition for Cal. 7.62mm (AK 47), twenty (20) rds live ammunition for Cal.30; one hundred twenty (129) rds live ammunition for Cal.7.62 (M14); one (1) detonator and one (1) digital multi-meter tester.

Said surrenderee stayed in the CNT organization for four (4) years and he revealed that the reason behind why he surrendered was because he is tired of fighting against the government forces coupled with hardship and failed promises of his recruiters. According to him, he is also worried about the future of his five (5) children for not being able to continue their studies. On top of that, he said that he is already worn-out of the endless suffering, hunger and that he no longer understands the policy inside the communist group.

The successful surrender of said Communist Terrorist was made possible thru proper coordination and support between Lt. Col. Michael Rey S Reuyan, 36IB Commanding Officer and Lt. Col. Benedict Harvey L Gernale, 3rd Special Forces Bn Commander.

In a statement, 36IB Commander, Lt. Col. Michael Rey S Reuyan said, “Joining the communist group doesn’t only mean you left the government, it also means that you left your family. As what Fortunato said they’ only give you false hope and broken promises. So, while it’s not too late, surrender now, and you’ll be saved in this nothing but a selfish and violent organization.”
