A member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in an encounter at Sitio Bajay, Brgy Caliling, Cauayan, Negros Occidental on April 19, 2022.
A 62-year old Celso Tribunalo y Dahil-Dahil alias LARRY/ JIMLO/GREG, Squad Leader, Squad 2, Platoon 2, SDG, SWF/ Member, PLTN 3, SWF, of Sitio Ulomhon, Brgy Yao-Yao, Cauayan, Negros Occidental was killed in an encounter between the troops of 15th Infantry Battalion and more or less 10 NPA members of Southwest Front of KR-NCBS
The encounter happened at around 6:10 a.m., which lasted for about 15-minutes.
Prior to the encounter, the troops of 15IB were conducting combat operations in Cauayan Municipality and immediately responded to the tipped-off of local populace on the presence of fully armed rebels in the community.
The overwhelming force of the government troops made the enemies withdrew, leaving their dead comrade behind. The troops also retrieved One (1) M4 Rifle with magazines, ammunition, other war materiel and NPA personal belongings.
In his statement, Major General Benedict Arevalo, the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division Commander, commended the unending support of the local populace for giving accurate information to the troops.
Likewise, MGen Arevalo congratulated the operating troops in preventing the atrocities of the NPAs not only in Negros island, but also in other part of Western and Central Visayas.
“We are saddened by another life wasted because of senseless armed revolution of CPP-NPA terrorists. Thus, we are again calling to the other members of the terrorist group to surrender now, while they still have a chance”, said MGen Arevalo.
