Camp Aquino, Tarlac City – Feb 16, 2022, The Deputy Commander of Northern Luzon Command welcomed the visit of the 44th Chief Engineer and at the same time the Commander of Armed Forces of the Philippines Task Force for Infrastructure Development (AFPTFID) here today, February 16, 2022.
In a courtesy call, Brig. Gen. Leandro Abeleda III received Maj. Gen. Gerardo Catindoy who intends to inspect the projects of the Department of National Defense (DND) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Convergence Program dubbed as “Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad” (TIKAS) that are within camps in NoLCom’s area of responsibility.
During the talks, Maj. Gen. Catindoy expressed his gratitude to the NoLCom troopers’ warm welcome and revealed that he will be inspecting the ongoing project constructions in Tactical Operations Group 3, Military Intelligence Group 3, AFP Reserve Command and 522 Engineer Construction Battalion, all of which are units inside Camp Aquino, Tarlac City.
“We will ensure the proper implementation of these projects, as these developments compliments the AFP Modernization Program that will usher us, the military, towards a more efficient and professional service to the country,” Maj. Gen. Catindoy said.
Likewise, Brig. Gen. Abeleda thanked the guest for taking the time off his busy schedule to personally visit and inspect the implementation of the government-funded programs that were granted to the military.
Meanwhile, NoLCom Commander Lt. Gen. Ernesto Torres Jr. said that the “The TIKAS program makes a huge difference toward recognizing our soldiers’ sacrifice and uplifting their morale. With new facilities and improvements in our camps, our soldiers will now be more equipped and capacitated in the performance of their mandated tasks as defenders of the north, and protectors of the people.”
The NoLCom Commander also extended his gratitude to the theDPWH Acting Sec. Roger G. Mercado, and DND Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana, saying that “their assurance and support to the troops inspire them to build a stronger force that is always ready to serve the people.”
Subsequently, the Chief Engineer will also visit the ongoing TIKAS projects in Wallace Air Station in La Union, and the 548 Engineer Construction Battalion in Laoag, Ilocos Norte
A total of 187 TIKAS projects are programmed for NoLCom from 2019 to 2022, 37 of these projects are ongoing construction while 63 are about to be started.
