Camp Aquino, Tarlac City – Feb 16, 2022, Mr. Carlo Lorenzo Datu, the Deputy Regional Director of Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region III paid a courtesy call on NoLCom Commander Lt. Gen. Ernesto Torres Jr. in a bid to bolster their cooperation and coordination to the peace, security, and development campaign of the government.

Mr. Datu was accompanied by Ms. Trixie Joy Manalili, Information Center Manager, and Ms. Liana Barela, Multimedia Assistant/ Media Coordinator.

Lt. Gen. Torres welcomed the PIA team at the Hall of Flags located inside the NoLCom Headquarters at Camp Aquino, San Miguel, Tarlac City in the morning of February 16, 2022.

A closed-group discussion with the NoLCom Commander; Col. Alaric Avelino Delos Santos, NoLCom’s Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Civil-Military Operations, U7; and Lt. Col. Elmar Salvador, NoLCom’s Chief, Public Information Office took place after the amenities.

Mr. Datu expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and vowed his support towards the command’s campaign against Communist terrorism and violent extremism through the use of factual reporting and efficient information dissemination of the command.

“We reaffirm our support to NoLCom and its endeavors in sustaining peace and development here in Central Luzon. In particular, we are strengthening our partnership in information dissemination using all available platforms be it radio, television, social media, and interpersonal,” said Mr. Datu.

Mr. Datu also assured the general that PIA-Central Luzon will help capacitate NoLCom personnel from the joint task forces down to the battalion level in the different aspects of communication.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen Torres expressed his gratitude for the support of PIA in promoting their peace, security, and development campaigns more particularly in helping the security forces build an environment of lasting peace and development in the northern and central Luzon.

Lt. Gen. Torres Jr. also emphasized the importance and contribution of the media in making sure that the government’s message in ending the local communist armed conflict will reach the general public.

“With our synergistic efforts, we can help deliver the message of peace and trigger the awakening of patriotism of our brothers and sisters who are still under the manipulative grasps of the Communist terrorists,” said Lt. Gen. Torres.

The PIA is the country’s official public information arm. It specializes in development communication and serves as a communications component of the government’s programs through multi- media strategies.
