MAWAB, DAVAO DE ORO – The 1003rd Infantry (RAPTOR) Brigade under the 10th Infantry (AGILA) Division, Philippine Army successfully dismantled and decimated the Sub-Regional Committee 5, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) of the CPP-NPA in Southern Mindanao.

The entire leadership of the Headquarters SRC5, SMRC, and its Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit (SRGU) surrendered to 1003rd Infantry Brigade under Colonel Consolito P Yecla on January 10, 13 and 16, 2022, respectively at Sitio Minalong, Brgy Kahusayan, Kitaotao, Bukidnon and Sitio Sambulungan, Brgy Palma Gil, Talaingod, Davao del Norte. The Communist NPA Terrorists who yielded to 1003rd Brigade are the following:

1) Ida Marie Montero alias MANDY (PSRL 4Q21) – Secretary, SRC5, SMRC; Member, KT/KH, SMRC; and Finance Officer, SRC5, SRMC
2) Renato Lubguban alias JOSE (PSRL 4Q21) – Deputy Secretary, SRC5, SMRC; and CO, Sub-Regional Operational Command, SRC5, SRMC
3) Lutenant APOGA alias MACKY (PSRL 2021) – Commanding Officer, Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit (SRGU), SRC5, SMRC
4) Vivan DUMOL alias JUVELYN (PSRL 2021), Political Instructor, Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit (SRGU), SRC5, SMRC
5) Lito Taluwa alias LITO (PSRL 4Q21) – Acting CO, SRGU, SRC5
6) Enrico Caramat alias MARCO (PSRL 4Q21) – Political Instructor, SRGU, SRC5, SMRC
7) Rudy Saballa alias EGOR (PSRL 4Q21) – Military Adviser, SRGU, SRC5; and former CO, Dismantled GF56, SRC5, SMRC

Likewise, they brought along nine (9) high-powered firearms and two (2) low-powered firearms broken down as follows: three (3) COLT M653 Rifles; four (4) M16 Rifles; one (1) M14 Rifle; one M79 Grenade Launcher; and two (2) Caliber .45 pistols and numerous war materiel as follows:

2) 36 Pcs M16 Long Magazines
3) Five (5) Pcs M203 Ammunition
4) 1028 Rds M16 Ammunition
5) 66 Rds M14 Ammunition
6) Two (2) Pcs Handheld radios

8) 12 Pcs Blasting Caps
9) 8 Pcs Bandoleers
10) Assorted Medical Paraphernalia
11) Notebooks and Documents
12) Personal belongings
13) Three (3) Pcs USB
14) Two (2) Pcs Memory Cards

According to alias “Mandy” during the initial interview, “Game over na kami, sir.” (It’s game over for us, sir.)

Meanwhile, MGen Ernesto C Torres Jr, Commander 10ID, lauded the brigade’s accomplishment as no such brigade has this kind of accomplishment especially in dismantling the whole Sub-Regional Committee that previously had three (3) Guerilla Fronts. Also, the dismantling of SRC 5 is way ahead of the timeline set by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

“This is the reality on the ground as opposed to the lies being peddled by the CPP Information Bureau that they still have strong cadres and mass bases. Our joint Intelligence, Focus Military Operations (FMO) and purposive CMO operations led to the destruction of SRC5 and SRGU of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC).” MGen Torres said.

“Indeed, our efforts against the CPP-NPA in Southern Mindanao is on the endgame. Cadres after cadres have been neutralized, guerilla fronts after guerilla fronts have been dismantled. It’s time to end this insurgency. Not tomorrow, but today. Again, I am calling the remaining deceived members of the Communist Terrorist Group to lay down your arms, return to the folds of the law and live a peaceful life ahead.” MGen Torres added.

In 2016, it can be recalled that the Sub-Regional Committee 5, SMRC had three Guerilla Fronts namely GF 54, 55, and 56; and had one (1) Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit (SRGU). All are now dismantled.

Also in 2016, the entire SMRC had 14 Guerilla Fronts and 6 Sub-Regional Guerilla Units but are now down to just 4 Guerilla Fronts and 1 SRGU; wherein Guerilla Front 18 have already been recommended for dismantling.
