Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao— Chief Minister Ahod (Al Haj Murad) Ebrahim of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM hailed the passage on its third and final reading of the House Bill 10121 Wednesday, September 15 resetting the elections in 2022, thus extending the transition period of the BARMM to 2025.
Ebrahim said that the passage of the bill on third reading, by a vote of 187-0-0, “puts us in a better position to ensure that the provisions and agreements in the GPH-MILF peace process are properly implemented.”
“The extension of the transition period will allow the interim Bangsamoro Government to pour in all its efforts in establishing an institution that acknowledges the circumstances of the Bangsamoro, and will provide opportunities for everyone to take part in reshaping our homeland,” he added.
On September 14, President Rodrigo Duterte issued the certificate of urgency on “the necessity of the immediate enactment of House Bill 10121 to give the Bangsamoro transitional government sufficient time to complete its mandate, establish a strong bureaucracy and enact foundational codes essential to the achievement of the aspirations of unity, genuine autonomy, and development in the BARMM.
Ebrahim expressed his gratitude to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for reassuring the success of the Bangsamoro peace process.
