After the forum, the participants agreed to create an organization called SOFEMO Security Organization for Eastern Misamis Oriental. Induction of officers followed upon its creation. The 58IB and PPO-MISOR commanders serve as the advisers of SOFEMO.
Lt. Col. Ricky L. Canatoy, Commanding Officer of 58IB expressed gratitude to the members of the Security Organization for their support and cooperation. “With your participation and, above all, your cooperation, you have made this activity possible. Furthermore, you agreed and decided to form this SOFEMO group, which will tremendously benefit us all because it will intensify our efforts to secure and protect vital installations for future development. This isn’t just for our benefit. It goes above and beyond. We are here to work together for the greater good, which is why you are here in the first place. This entire discussion, as well as the formation of your security organization, is just the start. We were able to freely discuss your issues and concerns, and we did our best to address them. You can rest confident that the Army is doing all possible to prevent the NPA’s atrocities and other violent activities. What we ask from you is your fervent cooperation in not succumbing to their extortion tactics or engaging in negotiations with them. I’m looking forward to working with you to build a stronger, more fruitful partnership.”
