BALER, Aurora-Some 115 individuals in the Muslim community have benefited from a joint community pantry spearheaded by the Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion; Aurora Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (ARRIBn) and stakeholders at the Muslim’s mosque of Barangay Buenavista, Dipaculao, Aurora on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Lt. Col. Reandrew P. Rubio, commander of 91st IB said that the army troopers participated in the Community Pantry initiated by the 307th Community Defense Center (CDC), 3rd Regional Community Defense Groups (3rd RCDG), Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) headed by its Battalion Commander of ARRIBn Major Edward Pineda.

“The community pantry, spearheaded by Major Pineda offering free health and social services for our Muslims community will continue to do the same even at the grassroots level,” Rubio said.

Services rendered during the activity were feeding program with 28 beneficiaries, gift-giving with 42 beneficiaries, community pantry with 30 beneficiaries, and blood pressure consultation with 15 beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, Major Pineda said that the community pantry aims to bring the government services not only to the Muslim’s community but also to the people of Aurora and even in the far-flung Barangays of the province.

Pineda thanked their partners for helping bring government services to Muslim communities.

“I am very thankful to our sponsors and donors who made this activity came into reality, the welfare of the people is our priority. This activity may seem to be ordinary things for those who have much in life, but these mean a lot for the less fortunate ones. This is our commitment, we share what we have,” Pineda said.

“Let us work together and support each other in order to achieve genuine and long-lasting peace that we have dreamed of for so long,” he said.

Khalid Abdulla, Imam and President of the Muslim Community in the town of Dipaculao said that he is very thankful for the generosity of the Philippine Army for taking steps to support the Muslim community.

While the government is battling for covid-19, Abdulla said there are Samaritans who really helps people like them with the grace of Allah-the God of Mercy, the God of love.

Also witnessed the activity were Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) National Service Training Program (NSTP) Director Lorna Barbasa, Barangay Buenavista Chairman Ferdinand Lapitan, representatives from the office of Mayor Danilo Tolentino and personnel of Dipaculao Police Station led by Police Captain Edwardo S. Mendoza.
