CAMP HERNANDEZ, Dingle, Iloilo – The Army’s 33rd Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Company ended its almost nine-month-long conduct of Community Support Program (CSP) activities in three villages of Iloilo City on Friday, April 23, 2021.

During the culmination program, in attendance were the CSP operators from the 33rd CMO Company headed by its Commanding Officer, Captain Ivy Arcangeles; village officials of Bitoon, Balabago, and Tabuc Suba, all of Jaro District, and members of Bayanihan Youth Club and Uswag Zone 4 Bayanihan Balabago Association (UZBBA).

Captain Arcangeles said, her troops were deployed in the barangays since July 2020, even with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. For almost nine months, the CSP Teams have contributed a lot not only in clearing the barangays from the influence of the CPP-NPA terrorists and their allied groups but also in their fight against COVID-19.

They also successfully re-organized the former CPP-NPA allied groups into Bayanihan organizations that include Sitio Ilaya Hugpong Bayanihan Urban Poor Association (SIHBUPA), formerly known as Sitio Ilaya Chapter Urban Poor Association (SICUPA from Barangay Tabuc Suba; Barangay Bitoon Bayanihan New site Bayanihan Association (BBNSBA) formerly known as KAISOG; and Uswag Balabago Zone IV Bayanihan Association (UBZBA) previously known as Uswag Zone 4 Balabago Association (UZBA).

The conclusion of CSP activities in three villages within the district of Jaro signaled the launching of the same program in seven other villages of Iloilo City that include West Timana, North Fundidor, South Fundidor in Molo District; Navais Mandurraio District; Sinikway in Lapuz District, Baldoza in Lapaz district and MV Hechanova in Jaro District.

Brigadier General Marion R Sison, the Commander of the Army’s 301st Infantry (Bayanihan) Brigade expressed his gratitude to the officials and residents for their warm accommodation and overwhelming support to CSP operators that led to the successful clearing of their villages.

“The culmination of the CSP in 3 city villages is a manifestation of how effective the collaborative effort of the Army, local officials, and the populace is in clearing and guarding their barangays against the deceptive maneuvers of the CPP-NPA terrorists and their allied groups. With this, I am urging the village chairmen of the 7 barangays to extend the same support to our CSP Teams for the betterment of their communities. Sa bayanihan matutuldukan, terorismo dulot ng komunismo,” Brigadier General Sison said.
