MARAWI CITY, Mar. 29 (PIA)--Graduates of Ranaw Youth and Peace Leadership Summit are encouraged to share their acquired learnings and skills with their fellow youth in their communities.

103rd Infantry (Haribon) Brigade commander BGen Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II pointed out that the youth should become the medium of equipping other youth with knowledge and skills in leadership after they have undergone training for seven days.

“You've learned a lot of techniques and information on leadership. This is the time now that you have to teach co-youth in your communities. You become the medium and multiply youth leaders in your community by teaching what you have learned and you need to lead by example,”
he said.


Cuerpo also cited the significance of being a patient and generous leader.

“You have to lengthen your stream of patience because teaching with experience and leading as we experience, you have to be patient,” he added.

Board Member Jeff Adiong emphasized that power comes with responsibility. He also encouraged the youth to share their learnings with others.

Adiong also called on the youth to create safer spaces for people to continue raising their voices to be heard.

Meanwhile, Lanao del Sur Police Director PCol Rex Derilo urged the youth not to forget where they came from which will guide them to become a better leader.

Save the Children Philippines will also provide P10,000 grant to youth groups in 26 municipalities of Lanao del Sur.

Tito Revereal of Save the Children shared that their organization is committed to help the youth in their journey towards peace and development in Lanao del Sur.

“We are very happy to provide support to all of you to start some capacity building as well as direct activities that can help in the promotion of peace and development,” he said.

RYPLS is organized by the 103rd Infantry (Haribon) Brigade and the provincial government of Lanao del Sur in partnership with the Philippine National Police, Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, Plan international, USAID, Save the Children, United Nations Development Programme, Philippine Red Cross, National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction, Department of Public Works and Highways, Youth Leadership Summit, Alumni of Lanao del Sur, and other partner stakeholders.
