CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental (March 8)--The 58th Infantry Dimalulupig Battalion facilitated the turnover of livelihood and cash assistance to Kipuntos Farmers Association at Kipuntos Barangay Hall in Gingoog City, March 5.

Among the items given to 48 members of the Kipuntos Farmers Association were financial and food assistance, ten working carabaos, ten plows, and ten harrows.

For almost seven years, before Kipuntos Association was recognized as a people's organization, it was regarded as underground mass organization who were once deceived by NPA rebels.

After being engulfed in the Community Support Program (CSP), it was turned into an organization for and by the people, opening doors of opportunities, one of which is this livelihood assistance for the farmer beneficiaries.

Mr. Alfredo Magatao, president of the said organization, was moved beyond words as he recalled the Army's help through the 58IB in immersing Kipuntos, which bridged the gap between the government and the barangay in resolving their issues and concerns, that had previously served as a major factor in supporting the NPA rebels.

The members felt genuinely blessed and thankful, as this assistance would undoubtedly help them sustain their livelihood as farmers in the coming years. (58IB)
