53IB Conducts Community Engagement in Dumingag, ZDS
 
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) conducted a Community Engagement in Barangay Dulian, Dumingag, Zamboanga Del Sur from February 18, 2021 to March 5, 2021.
 
The activity was spearheaded by the 53IB Alpha Company under 2Lt. Janryl Gumalad together with the intention to communicate to the community of the Army’s goal to maintain peace and order.

On the first day, the 53IB held a film showing at the Dulian Barangay Hall. The film showing included the Matapat Audio Visual Presentation (AVPs) “We Are Your Soldiers and movies for the children.

Feeding Program and Giving of Toys to the children were also conducted. A Grand Pulong -Pulong (gathering), distribution of leaflets and transistor radios.

The Alpha Company also conducted sportsfest activities and the turn-over of one (1) Basketball and one (1) Volleyball for the barangay.

The Team also conducted Flag Raising Ceremonies in Sitio Lawis and Barangay Dulian with the residents and conducted distribution of leaflets and transistor radios to the residents of Barangay Riverside at the boundary of Barangay Pawan, Midsalip and Barangay Dulian, Dumingag in Zamboanga Del Sur.

The residents performed a Subanen Dance Contest during the Alpha Company’s visit. The activity aimed to showcase the rich Subanen Culture in the barangay. The Subanen dancers used their traditional costumes and showed the local culture with rich traits, customs, and character as the cultural identity of the Subanen tribe.
