CAMP Siongco, Maguindanao – Another ten members of local terrorist group of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) have surrendered to the army troops brought about by pressures of an intensified military offensive against them in Maguindanao on October 28, 2020.
The ten former rebels were presented to Major General Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force Central Commander and 6th Infantry Division Commmader by Hon Mamatanto Mamantal, Mayor of Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao during the 68th Founding Anniversary celebration of the said Municipality.
“Our troops conduct series of intensified stakeholder engagement to encourage the remaining terrorists to surrender and cooperate with the government,” said Maj. Gen. Juvymax R. Uy, Commander of Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry Division.
Through the intervention of SSB LGU the former combatants of BIFF surrendered to the 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Battalion. They carried along with them their weapons one M14 rifle, one M16A1 rifle, one M79, Two RPG, One Barret, one Tomb Gram, one 12 Gauge Shotgun, one Caliber 45, one Caliber 38, one Rifle Grenade, one Hand Grenade and one IED.
“This success is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the military, local government units, the traditional leaders and the peace-loving people of Maguindanao,” Major General Uy added.
Uy vowed support to the surrenderers in their reintegration into mainstream society.
