From the Visayan Daily Star (Aug 3, 2020): NPA leader, two others arrested

An alleged vice commanding officer of the New People’s Army Yunit Militia and two of his members were arrested yesterday by police and military personnel in Sitio Mahopaho, Brgy. San Agustin, Isabela, Negros Occidental.

The arrest also yielded guns.

Nabbed during the implementation of a search warrant issued by La Carlota Regional Trial Court Judge Cyclamen Jison Fernandez were
51-year-old Wenefredo Carillo Sr., vice commanding officer of the NPA Central Negros Front (Leonardo Panaligan Command) Yunit Militia, Martillano Lindayao, alias Marting, 46, and Dimas Lindayao, 40.

Lt. Col. Melvin Flores, 62IB commander, yesterday said the arrest of the three NPA rebels yielded a .45 caliber pistol with a magazine containing five ammunition and two .38 caliber revolvers with nine ammunition.

Flores also reported that Dimas Lindayao has a pending arrest warrant for two counts of murder.

He added that the successful joint effort of the 62nd Infantry Battalion and the Isabela Police is a result of the concerted intelligence-driven operations.

The apprehension of the Yunit Miltia leader and his two members came several days after three suspected NPA members, who turned out to be ranking leaders, were also apprehended on Thursday by the police and the military in Calatrava, Negros Occidental, that also yielded assorted guns and explosives, among others.

Nabbed by the joint teams of the 79th Infantry Battalion and PNP Special Action Battalion 6 in Brgy. Minapasok, Calatrava, were Cristell Abordo, alias Matt and Dulay, a regional communication staff of KR-NCBS, Mary Dem Forones, alias Nancy and Ayon, Regional Intelligence Secretary and Executive Committee member also of KR-NCBS and Rosennie Enyong, alias Mary Joy and Angel, a cadre of SYP Platoon 1 of Central Negros Front.

The arrest of ranking CPP-NPA officials yielded an M-14 rifle with a magazine containing nine ammunition, three .38 caliber revolvers, four rifle grenades, eight cellular phones, medical supplies and subversive documents, Lt. Col. Gerard Alvaran, 79IB commander, said.
