Three fully armed members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) seajacked a Panama registered vessel and abducted the boat captain and chief engineer about noon Thursday (March 23) off Sibago island while transiting the Basilan straight heading to General Santos City.

A sketchy military report said that Super Shuttle Tugboat 1 was towing M/V Super Shuttle Roro 9, a Panama registered vessel, while transiting the Basilan Strait, was attacked by three fully armed members of the ASG about 12:20 pm yesterday
Naval Forces in Western Mindanao identified the hostages as Tugboat Captain Aurelio Agacat, and Tugboat Chief Engr,Laurencio Tiro, both Filipinos.
The ASG was attacked by three fully armed members of the ASG about 1.7 Nautical Miles South East of Sibago Island.
It was learned that the vessels had just came from Cebu and bound for General Santos City.
The report also said that the suspect were onboard wooden hulled green speedboat that immediately sped towards Basilan province after taking hostage Agacat and Tiro.
The M/V Super Shuttle Roro 9 is now dead on water at the vicinity 22.3 Nautical Miles South East of Sibago Island.
