TALACOGON, AGUSAN DEL SUR – The troops of 26IB showcased their talent, creativity and expressions in poster making contest on the 18th day of May 2020 at the Battalion Headquarters, as part of the upcoming 36th Reactivation Anniversary Celebration of the unit with the theme “Ever Onward para sa Serbisyo, Kalinaw ug Kalambuan”.

Trained to be versatile at all times, each contingent is expected to bring out his best piece of artistry and artwork sighting the preeminent role of all agencies, the AFP, PNP, LGU, LGAs, health workers and mighty volunteers as front-liners in battling the pandemic COVID-19.

The Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Headquarters Company of 26IB were represented by their own personnel with hidden skills in artwork. Representatives were given a limited time of 3hrs maximum to express and elaborate their thoughts and ideas in a most creative masterpiece which should be self-explanatory and readable in relevance to the role of front-liners in battling the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, the artistic expression of the participants must be catchy and attractive to be admired by the panel of judges based on the following criteria: 50% creativity and attractiveness, 30% relevance and 20% originality.

Lt. Col Romeo C Jimenea, commanding officer, expressed that, “Despite certain circumstances caused by this virus, we are grateful to be alive, healthy and to be part of someone’s life especially to our co-front-liners who held on their ground with us to protect the lives of every people in the community against this disease.” he said.

“This is also a way of recreation and entertainment for our troops to take away the boredom and loneliness for being far from their families caused by this health crisis”, he added.

“Purposely, as part of the 36th Reactivation Anniversary of our battalion, the poster making contest not only showcases skills and artistry among our soldiers but also gives tribute to our front-liners who were with us in the ground as the national health emergency was held due to pandemic COVID-19.” Lt Col Jimenea ended.
