Posted to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Website (Feb 25, 2020): Empowering the youth of Butig

BUTIG, LANAO DEL SUR (February 20, 2020) --- Around 123 youth leaders from seven municipalities in Lanao del Sur converged here yesterday (February 20) for the Provincial Youth Leadership Summit, which aims to develop the youth as agents of peace and development.

With the theme “Developing thru Genuine Friendship and Service to Humanity,” the summit featured lectures and workshops on leadership development, peacebuilding and advocacy campaign, environmental awareness, causes and effects of terrorism, and ways to prevent criminality and drug addiction.

In her remarks, Director Pamela Ann Padilla-Salvan of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) congratulated the participants for joining the summit, as she highlighted the crucial role of the youth sector in peace and community-building.

The Provincial Youth Leadership Summit was spearheaded by the Joint Task Group “HARIBON,” with support from the Balay Mindanaw Foundation, 49th Infantry Battalion, 103rd Brigade, local government units, and OPAPP.
