AFP-CRS: 2 Sayyafs neutralized in Sulu clash

Military troops neutralized two Abu Sayyaf militants following an intense clash in Brgy Bakong, Patikul, Sulu on February 23.

Elements of the 15th Scout Ranger Company engaged in a ferocious gunfight with the group of Abu Sayyaf leader Radullan Sahiron and sub-leader Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan at 1pm on Sunday.

Two brave soldiers were also slightly wounded in a fierce of gunfire.

Mortar teams immediately delivered fire support to the engaged troops.

As of this press time, clearing operation is ongoing.

"Pursuit and deliberate offensives continue to pressure and pound down Abu Sayyaf fighters, constricting their movement and preempting terror ploys in the ZamBaSulTa area," said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Western Mindanao Command.

"We build up combat and intelligence operations to debilitate the militants in Sulu," he added.
