Communications Secretary Martin Andanar
Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar on Wednesday condemned the “execution-style” killing of a member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) in Bukidnon.
In a statement, Andanar bared that Cafgu member Pablo Omblero was executed by members of the “senseless, blood-thirsty” leftist armed group in front of his wife while he was off-duty and unarmed.
“We strongly denounce the execution-style murder of Pablo Omblero, a Cafgu army volunteer stationed in Lumbayao Patrol Base, at the hands of the New People's Army (NPA) terrorists,” Andanar said in a statement.
Andanar, who is also Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security of Northern Mindanao (CORDS 10), said he will coordinate with the local authorities, the Army, and the Commission on Human Rights to conduct a joint investigation on Omblero’s murder.
He pointed out the NPA continues to be “a threat to innocent civilians and volunteers and an enemy of peace and security since they do not discriminate whom they harm and they disregard the rule of law.”
The PCOO chief, meanwhile, said the government through National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) will continue to institutionalize a “whole of nation approach” in fighting communist insurgency.
“The government will not let NPA's brutality and attacks deter it from achieving its goal of lasting peace and prosperity, not just for the region but for the whole country,” Andanar said.
