The WestMinCom’s campaign against violent extremism reaps good results as more terrorists yield to the government forces in its area of operation.

The most recent is the surrender of 3 Abu Sayyaf Group members under ASG sub-leader Nur Hassan in Basilan, today (September 21, 2019) .

Khadaffy Kalitut, 17th in the PSR list; Aliman Langkasan; and Jiyad Arabin, yielded to the troops of the 18th Infantry Battalion in Route Perez, Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan Province.

The 3 handed-over one M16, one Garand rifle, and one M1 carbine. “We are happy that most of the ASG members are now willing to work with us in our quest for peace. They are longing for a good and progressive life with their loved ones,” said 18IB Commander, Lt. Col. Ivan San Jose.

The successful surrender was also facilitated by Limbo-Upas, Tipo Tipo Barangay Chairman Ismael Dampol.

“With all the programs and projects we implemented to assist our brothers and sisters who decided to return to the mainstream of society, we expect for more surrenderors in the coming days, ” said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Commander of the Western Mindanao Command.

“The success of our campaign is attributed to all the people who actively support us in all our endeavours,” Lt. Gen. Sobejana added.
