Joint operatives from the Army’s 15th Infantry Battalion, Special Action Force, 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company, all under the Police Regional Office 7, rescued a disabled member of New People’s Army, during a bomb-making facility raid conducted at Sitio Cabilocan, Brgy Camindangan, Sipalay City, August 18.
During the raid of the assaulting teams, PLtCol Ryan Manongdo, Force Commander, 2nd NOCPMFC, noticed a person confined in his bed at one of the huts adjacent to the encounter area, who was later identified as Ka “Amado”.
After initial investigation with members of the community, it was disclosed that Ka “Amado” was left at the area by more or less 30 members of the CPP NPA led by a certain Kumander “KOMPOL” last May 2019. Seeing the struggle of the Ka “Amado” and the lack of adequate health assistance, the residents sought the help of 15IB to extract him at said site and be treated in a medical facility. The Army and police pulled out Ka “Amado” from the encounter site with the use of improvised stretcher made of rice sack and two (2) pieces of wood until he was turned over to the rescue team of Sipalay CDRRMO and later brought to a government hospital. There he was treated accordingly and now being taken cared by medical professionals.
“Kudos to members of 15IB, SAF, PRO7 and 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company for giving compassion and kindness to a known member of the CPP NPA. In his most unfortunate time, desperate time, we were the answer to his prayers,” said PLtCol Manongdo.
