Mawab, Compostela Valley – On 9:00am of June 18, 2019 one (1) Milisyang Bayan nine (9) other mass supporters voluntarily surrendered to Lieutenant Colonel Esteveyn E Ducusin, Commanding Officer of 71 st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion MB) at Headquarters of 71IB at Purok 8, Brgy. Nueva Visayas, Mawab Compostela Valley.

While A certain A.K.A Jun, 48 years old, married and a resident of Brgy. Manipongol, Maco, CVP, member of Milisyang Bayan (MB) under Weakened Guerilla Front 2 (WGF 2), Sub-Regional Committee 2 (SRC 2), Southern Mindanao Regional Command (SMRC) voluntary surrendered with caliber .38 pistol with defaced serial number.

On the same day, A.K.A Tisoy 17 years old, A.K.A Tata 56 years old, A.K.A Jovi 52 years old, A.K.A Berto 57 years old, A.K.A Lie 51 years old, A.K.A Mayang 38 years old, A.K.A Dodo 56 years old, A.K.A Totonan 43 years old and A.K.A Jeffrey 29 years old, all residents of Brgy. Manipongol, Maco, CVP who are supporters of New People’s
Army, also surrendered.

Based on history, their Barangay was organized into Komiteng Rebolusyonaryo sa Baryo (KRB) and was dismantled by 71 st Infantry Battalion last 2017. A.K.A Jun revealed that the CNTs would like to reorganize the people to gain support. Having fear of being exploited again, mass chose to coordinate to the unit in order to divulge the plan. Hence, surrendered to Lieutenant Colonel Esteveyn E Ducusin.

“I am glad that you had learnt from your past experiences. The government will always be ready to help. CNTs should not be given any chance to exploit people. Further, avoiding to help them means giving them no chance to accomplish hostilities,” Ducusin said.

“It is a clear manifestation that the populace are now resistant to communist group and sincere to their commitment to have brand new life with their family”, Ducusin added.

71 ST Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion will be coordinating to Local Government Units and Line Government Agencies for the necessary assistance be given to the Former Rebels.
