CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao – The feuding families in Rajah Buayan of Maguindanao underwent settlement with the intervention of the military yesterday afternoon, May 8, 2019.
The Army’s 40th Infantry Battalion initiated the settlement of the two feuding clans from Sitio Wata, Barangay Tabungao of Rajah Buayan. The families involved in the feud were Zyn Kabalo and Yacob Salidatan, Battalion Commander and Deputy Brigade Commander, respectively, of 106th Based Command of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
40th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col Rogelio S. Gabi and Toks Upam of the MILF-Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities facilitated the settlement at 40th IB Headquarters in Brgy Zapakan of the same town.
The rido erupted after a relative of one of the feuding group was killed in December of 2018.
The military and MILF intervened to prevent the dispute from escalating, that could result to more bloodshed.
6th Infantry Division Commander Maj Gen Cirilito E. Sobejana is thankful for the sincerity of the warring groups to settle their differences in a peaceful manner.
The simple ceremony concluded with both parties shaking their hands.
