Elements of the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion and the PNP conducted joint law enforcement operation in Barangay Abaga, Nunungan, Lanao del Norte 4am yesterday (April 3, 2019).
Said operation resulted to one lawless element killed identified as Samolabao Tumog a.k.a SB, a former Barangay Chairman of Rebucon, Nunungan who was also an identified drug personality.
Government troops were about to serve a search warrant to Tumog when they were fired upon by the latter that resulted to the wounding of one Army personnel.
The wounded army was immediately evacuated to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
Three (3) more drug personalities were nabbed in the said operation, identified as Jalal Diambarang Tumog, Pano Tumog, and Hami Tumog. They are now under the custody of the PNP for filing of appropriate charges.
Recovered from the neutralized personalities were one M16 rifle, two rifle grenades, one hand grenade, magazines, and ammunitions.
“The neutralization of these drug personalities will significantly reduce the criminalities in our area of operation,” said Brigadier General Ezra James Enriquez, commander of the 2nd Mechanized Brigade.
Joint Task Force ZamPeLan commander Brigadier General Roberto Ancan, commander commended the troops of the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, 2nd Mechanized Brigade and the PNP for the successful neutralization of the drug personalities.
“Rest assured that the WestMinCom will continue to support the anti-drug campaign of the government and the operations of law enforcement agencies against illegal drug activities in the command’s joint area of operations,” WestMinCom chief Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega said.
