From Katropa DWDD-CRS Virtual RTV Facebook Page (Jan 28, 2019): RELENTLESS OPERATIONS | Three (3) Maute-IS captured in Lanao Del Sur AFP strike
LANAO DEL SUR (DWDD) - Elements of the 103rd “Haribon” Infantry Brigade arrested three Maute-IS fighters late Friday, January 25, as the military continues its offensive on the Maute-IS remnants in Lanao del Sur....
Apprehended personalities were identified as Abdillah Bationg, Kalid Hadjinur and Casanur Hadjinur.
The arrest was made after locals tipped soldiers from the 55TH Infantry Battalion, 8th Light Armored Cavalry and 10th Scout Ranger Company of the terrorist’s presence.
The apprehension came after assaulting elements seized a Maute-IS camp in the hinterlands of Sultan Dumalondong, forcing the terrorists to retreat for survival.
“Nahiwa-hiwalay nalang kami ng mga kasama namin. Kanya kanya nalang muna kami at hindi nadin namin makayanan ang putok at bomba ng sundalo” (We parted ways with our comrades. We cannot withstand the intense firefight and bombings from the soldiers), the remnant said during a military debriefing.
“Malapit na nila kami maikutan kaya unti unti nang tumakas mga kasama namin. Wala narin yung mga lider namin kaya naisipan nalang naming umalis” (We were about to be encircled so our members have to withdraw. Our leaders are no where to be found so we made a run for it) he adds.
A Maute-IS returnee confirms all three as remnants of the Maute-IS group government forces have encountered a day earlier.
Earlier, Colonel Romeo S Brawner Jr, Commander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade, stated that there will be no let up in military operation to liberate Lanao del Sur from the Maute-IS remnants.
“We will take them out of their comfort zones until they have no other option but to die or return to the folds of the law” He expresses.
Brawner said that the local populace and local chief executives were key players in gathering intelligence information necessary to sustain combat operations.
“It is now the Meranaos and soldiers against the Maute-IS remnants. We are a formidable force to be reckoned with.” Col Brawner notes.
Accordingly, local chief executives are feeding “almost real-time” information on the whereabouts of the enemy.
“With the amount of support we are receiving from the populace, we are well on our way liberate Lanao del Sur from these terror groups.” – Col Brawner.
Major General Roseller G Murillo, commander of the 1st Infantry Division, commends the success of the recent operation.
“We are looking forward to have a peaceful Lanao. With the string of victories we are attaining in our campaign against these terrorists, we project that the threat posed by the Maute-IS remnants will be no more than that of a petty criminal.” He ends. 1DPAO / MCAG
