Two (2) Improvised Explosive Devices exploded successively at the Mount Carmel Cathedral in Jolo, Sulu this morning while Sunday Mass was on-going....
The first IED exploded inside the cathedral, while the 2nd IED exploded near the main gate as military and police personnel were about to respond to the initial explosion.
A team from the 52nd Special Action Company together with attached FSB Explosive Rdnance Division led by Police Senior Inspector Joe Anthony Dablio responded to the said incident and extended help for the transport of wounded Army troops and civilians to nearby medical facilities.
Responding troops and EOD immediately conducted Post Blast Investigation (PBI) at the scene to determine the make and origin of the IEDs
Initial result: a) Killed: Government troops- 5; Civilians - 10 b) Wounded: Govt troops- 13 Civilians-33. AES / 4CRU / MCAG
