“Alias Botyok (not his true name) was tired and hungry when he yielded and said that they suffered leadership and fighters breakdown due to numerous surrenderees were facilitated by our unit,” said Lt. Col. Marlowe Patria, 53rd Infantry Battalion Commander.
“Last year we’ve recorded 40 Communist NPA Terrorist who surrendered to our unit,” Lt. Col. Patria added
“We will ensure for his enrollment to Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) of the government for him to return into the mainstream society,” said Col. Bagnus Gaerlan, 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander who operationally controlled 53rd IB.
Custodial debriefing is still on-going as of this posting.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) Commander, commended the efforts of the troops for the successful surrender of NPA medic.
“We encourage other NPAs to return to the folds of law and take advantage of the E-CLIP and spend a normal and peaceful life with their families.” Maj. Gen. Murillo added. 53IB / MCAG
