The 15-minute firefight resulted into one soldier declared dead on arrival by the attending physician in Camp Navarro Hospital, Zamboanga City after he was extracted from the encounter area.
The joint law enforcement operation was conducted to arrest BasiranAhilMudja who has two warrants of arrest for murder and attempted murder case.
Name of the dead soldier is withheld pending the notification of the families.
“Pursuit operation has been conducted to arrest and neutralize the armed group who also suffered casualties based on the bloodstains left in the encounter site,”said Col. BagnusGaerlan, the 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander based in Ipil, ZamboangaSibugay.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of our hero soldier. He died protecting the community in pursuit of peace and prosperity,” said Maj. Gen.
