NPA-Sorsogon (Celso Minguez Command)

Last October 15, at around 6pm, a platoon from the Celso Minguez Command (New People’s Army-Sorsogon) successfully raided an outpost of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the municipality of Gubat. The NPA was able to seize 1 armalite and an ammunition pouch containing 9 full magazines.
The NPA was able to quickly approach the PNP outpost guarded by 5 unsuspecting police personnel. The said outpost is about 200 meters away only from the headquarters of the PNP-Gubat. The NPA merely planned to disarm the police; however shots were exchanged when the police fought back. This led to the death of PO2 Dennis Garbida. The NPA was able to maneuver safely after the 7-minute firefight.
This raid is a legitimate tactical offensive of the NPA against the AFP-PNP troops. This also serves as a punitive action against the PNP-Gubat for actively participating in the counter-insurgency “Oplan Kapayapaan (Operational Plan Peace)” of the US-Duterte regime, instead of investigating the numerous cases of human rights abuses against Gubateno civilians. More so, the fascist soldiers and police are the actual perpetrators behind cases of intimidation, battery, grave threats and murder, such as the incidents in the barangays of Bulacao, Naagtan, Bentuco, Sangat, Union, Casili and more. Even in the town center of Gubat, the PNP-Gubat coddles the AFP death squads. These death squads plague the roads of Gubat, aboard unplated motorcycles used for murdering civilians.
