The Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC), the only health facility inside the conflict zone of Marawi City managed to treat sick and wounded persons caused by the armed confrontations between the government troops and IS-inspired Maute group.
This is through the medical aid assistance of health and humanitarian organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) that continue provide the hospital with much needed medical assistance.
On Tuesday, August 8, the ICRC delivered medical supplies to the hospital to support the needs of patients being treated in APMC.
An ICRC report says that before the hostilities erupted in Marawi City, they had donated medical supplies in April. It added that APMC became one of seven hospitals in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao to receive quarterly delivery of medical supplies for the treatment of wounded patients.
The committee provided infusion sets, dressing sets, and tetanus vaccines, essential medicines such as antibiotics and painkillers, and medical supplies that could serve at least 200 patients for a period of three months.
According to the Department of Health (DOH) estimate, more than 30,000 people have suffered from injury since the conflict erupted in May 23 this year.
