From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Aug 11): ATROCITIES | NPAs ambush civilians Surigao Del Sur
CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – Two large explosions believed to be Improvised Explosive Devices explosions which were followed by gunfires were heard in San Agustin, Surigao Del Sur, yesterday.
According to reports, Intelligence operatives of 36th Infantry Battalion proceeded to the area and later reported that one (1) civilian elf truck loaded with water melons was hit by a landmine at the vicinity of Barangay Sto Niño, San Agustin, Surigao Del surS believed to be perpetrated by members of Platoon 8, Guerilla FrontC19, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee.
As a result of the incident, two (2) civilians were wounded, who were later identified as Silva Medrano and Joel Silyares both from Butuan City.
The victims were immediately brought to Lianga District Hospital, Surigao del Sur for medical treatment. ALS / MCAG
